Family and Friends

One of my favorite quotes ~

Warm smiles and happy faces
we share together in familiar places...
The truest of feelings that never ends...
This is my love of Family and Friends.

A Sincere Love of Family ~

Posted by Picasa

Mom just loves her cousins, so when we decided to have a retirement party for her in 2002, she was really hoping her cousins would come. Mom grew up very close to many of her cousins - some right across the street! (Lucky girl!) All but one came and she was absolutely delighted.

It's three years later and I FINALLY got to the scrapbook that I was going to create for her to capture the special event. This is clearly my favorite layout. It is the "cousins" layout. I did two different layouts - one for then, one for now. This is obviously the "then" section. The paper is completely crackled and old fashioned looking and I used scanned copies of old black and whites. Adding a little brown ribbon seemed to finish it perfectly.

I delivered the album to mom on Christmas this year (2005) and she was very pleased.

A few of my favorite girls ~ on a favorite page

This was a page I created for "Grama Linda". I created an 8 x 8 album that covered a year of events as we hadn't been able to see her for a while. This was clearly my favorite little layout. My friend Sarah showed me a few techniques (new to me) - paper tearing and using ribbon. I tried them both for this layout and was quite pleased at how it turned out! When I was done with the album, I wanted to keep it for myself. But that's a good thing - that means I must have done an okay job!

Deep thoughts on a Sunday night...

"One day in retrospect the years of struggle will strike you as the most beautiful."
– Sigmund Freud

What a great quote. I found it a while back and have saved it in my email file as it just seems like such a profound statement. What an honest and true description of life. With all of the scrapbooking I've been doing lately, I've found myself being very sentimental and even tearful, and have thought a lot about days gone by. I am a very emotional and sentimental girl in general, and personally, I like that about me. That is me - take it or leave it.

Anyway, I thought posting it would be a great addition to this page.

All for now ~

My very first blog!

Being creative with pal Sue. Posted by Picasa

Hi there - thanks for visiting this site and checking out my very first blog! I wanted to find a place to save copies of my favorite creative things. Some may be copies of scrapping pages I have created, or pictures, poems, documents, or all of the above at once!

I initially started out looking for a colorful background for this "project". However, when I took a look at this design, I just couldn't resist! Being next to the water instantly relaxes me, which of course is a great state to be in when you're ready to get creative and get to work. With that in mind, I thought this would be perfect!

I hope you enjoy taking a peek, but please remember that I am brand new at this and have a lot to learn. So if something looks a little funny, pretend it looks nice, okay?
